My Thoughts From the Scottish Countryside: The Quality Pilates Experience

I am currently enjoying some quality time up in Scotland, and what tends to happen when I’m away is that I get super inspired, creative, and driven. I have so many ideas and can think and write more clearly. It’s where most of my book, HOPE For Your Pelvic Floor was written and where I continue to think about how to improve the quality of your Pilates experience at the studio.
Each time I’m here, it reminds me just how important it is that we take a break and refresh, and I encourage our team to make sure they do the same. I read a book recently where the author referred to business owners, which I and our teachers are, as the golden goose. I’m sure you know the story about the goose; it laid golden eggs, and the man killed the goose to get all the eggs inside. Of course, that didn’t end well, and there were no more golden eggs. It was an important reminder that so often in our profession, because we are naturally people-centred, caring, and empaths we burn out. Nobody wants that!
Over the past two decades, I have invested and travelled the world to learn from the best and hosted the best education in Leeds so that myself and our team can continually grow and improve our skills so that we can honour our mission to provide the highest quality teaching and learning experience in the region, if not beyond. This is because we all care deeply about what we do here. We don’t do fitness Pilates here; we teach you how to move better for life, and you will get traditional fitness benefits too. Our focus is on you, your needs and goals, and how we can guide you there safely, efficiently, and with a dash of fun along the way.
I met an electrician the other day; he’d done a bit of work on our house, and he could remember all the places the wires went, directions, and locations in great detail. I complimented his skill, and then I realised that I do that with clients. I may not always remember names right away, but I do always remember the details of your past injuries, goals, activities you do, surgeries, your gait, and your posture.
I had a phone call once from a client I had taught seven years prior. She said her name, and I had no clue. Then she recalled her knee injury, and I knew right away. I recently spotted someone when I didn’t have my glasses on and in a very dark room, and I knew instantly who it was because of her posture. This might sound a bit creepy, but it’s actually a skill I’ve honed over years; it’s called body reading and memory, which is what I believe so strongly in and enables me rp provide a quality pilates experience.
You. I am not alone, our team is made up of highly skilled detectives. We analyse your information and posture and create class plans, gym programmes, and one-to-one plans to suit you exactly where you are. We draw on all of our years of experience, the thousands of hours of training and teaching, and are 100% present with you. We pour ourselves into the work we create with and for you, and we love it!!!
All this to say that what we do as experts in our field takes not just the time we are with you; it’s the time before and after, and most importantly, it’s our loving energy that is the gift we want to give you that we spend and invest with you. So when I encourage your amazing teacher to take a holiday, I hope you will support me and them so they don’t become unable to be the golden goose and produce the golden egg we all love and appreciate.
