This week we are celebrating the incredible achievement of Sadie who has passed her final Pilates exam and is now a fully-fledged qualified Pilates teacher.
We spoke to Sadie to see how she feels.
“I am so happy! I started the course in April 2021. It began with online learning and lots of pre-course reading on the history of Pilates, anatomy and physiology, and the Polestar Pilates principles.
The course was 1 weekend a month for 6 months. Throughout those 6 months, I was continuously assessed in my teaching, self-mastery, and written understanding. The training is a multi-layered assessment process that doesn’t end after 6 months. In order to qualify, I needed to do 100 hours of self-mastery, 100 hours of apprentice teaching, and 40 hours of observation. To do this I looked for opportunities to teach and practice whenever I could. After being signed off for all of these aspects and after lots of preparation and hard work, I sat the exams. The exams have 6 different assessment areas;
- Teaching skills
- Demonstration
- Case study
- Exercise plan
- Safety
It was challenging, but the preparation is required not just to get a pass, it’s a process of gaining a true understanding of how we can teach the Pilates Method safely and professionally.
My learning doesn’t stop here. In order to maintain my Pilates Method Alliance Certification, I am required to complete at least 16 hours of continuing education in the next 2 years. If I am honest, I’m already looking for my next opportunity to learn more!”
I am honoured to be a fully-fledged member of the Chapel Allerton Pilates team and I want to express my thanks to Claire, the whole team at the studio, and of course my wonderful clients.” 💚
This is what Claire had to say
“I am so proud of the dedication, commitment, resiliency, and reliability that all of our team demonstrates to achieve their Pilates certification. Earlier this year Louise travelled to London, and worked with international educators alongside me to gain all the mastery needed to pass the rigorous 6 layered exam process, which she aced!”
“Most recently Sadie has completed this same process and apprenticed with me for 6-8 hours a week for almost a year! She has taken this in her stride alongside her NHS role as a research nurse and mum to her two daughters. I feel so inspired by these two women, who remind us we can accomplish anything we put our mind to, and that we have a mission to really serve and help people. It’s been an honour being by their side watching how hard they worked so they can rise above and join our team of the most qualified Pilates teachers in Leeds.
